MUSIC THEATRE PROGRAM

Elementary Theatre Classes:

www.CenterstageElementaryTheatre.com

This class is offered to students in grades 1-5.  It combines acting and vocal instruction, and is applied to performances and productions throughout the year.  The curriculum and class structure is tailored to meet the needs of both beginning and advanced performers:  an excellent introduction to the stage for new participants, with more challenging opportunities for veteran actors. Performances include the Spring Showcases, the Spring Musical production (last year's production was Aladdin). Don't wait to get started!  Auditions for the Spring Musical production will take place November 6-7.  Instructor:  Rebecca Lowe

Acting Classes:

www.CenterstageActing.com

The Acting Classes are designed for grades 6-8 (Class 1) and 9-12 (Class 2) and were created for actors to work on their acting techniques.  These classes will focus on different aspects of acting, and through discussion and exercise, students will better develop basic skills that will further their understanding of each concept and perfect their presentation.  From speech to diction, to physical movement and character analysis, the classes are designed to test an actor's ability to be comfortable on stage, think creatively and better handle roles.  Instructor:  Mark Bzdick

Joy of Acting Classes:

www.CenterstageJoyOfActing.com

These classes have been especially designed for students with high functioning autism, Asperger's syndrome and other social cognition delays.  The exciting, fast-paced acting classes focus on the development of social skills through the use of wild and crazy theatre games!  Students will develop self-confidence, build and master key social skills, and learn valuable acting techniques and skills.  Instructors:  Charlene Wentland and Holly Johnson

Vocal Classes:

www.CenterstageVoice.com

The Vocal Classes are designed to provide a group vocal environmnet for students in grades 1-5 (Elementary Voice), grades 6-8 (Voice 1), and grades 9-12 (Voice 2) with the desire to become better singers and musicians. They have been carefully designed to ensure the involvement of theory and technique that is sometimes neglected in the private voice lesson. This class has it all. Through discussion and worksheets, each student can clearly watch their individual development, and understanding of musicianship, and where they need the extra work.

The 60 minute class is split into three segments:  Music Theory/Ear Training, Vocalization/Warm-Ups, and Various Musical Repertoire.  Students will be evaluated by Mark Bzdick and placed in the appropriate level based on that evaluation.

Singing Actors Workshop:

This workshop is designed to concentrate on the acting aspect of performing a song. Performers refine their presentation of musical theater selections by concentrating on the acting, character analysis and overall presentation. This is an excellent class for singers who desire to be performers on stage. This class also prepares its students for any audition and college entry. The Fall Semester focuses on solo work; the Spring Semester includes duets and ensembles.  The workshop is completed by a Showcase Performance at the end of the spring semester.  Recommendation or audition required for participation.  Instructor:  Mark Bzdick

Spring Musical Production:

Students grades 2-9 who are enrolled in a Music Theatre Class (such as Elementary Theatre or Acting/Vocal Classes, Singing Actors Workshop) may audition for speaking roles in the Spring Musical Production.  All Elementary Theatre students will automatically perform in the chorus.  Performances will take place in March at the Yoder Barn; auditions are scheduled for November 6-7.  Instructor:  Rebecca Lowe
